| 18 Yellow Roses Artist: Bobby Darin & the Rinky-Dinks Peak: #10 Lyrics by: Author's Name Year: 1963 Week peaked: Eignteen yellow roses came today.... Eighteen yellow roses in a pretty bouquet When the boy came to the door I didnt know what to say.... But eighteen yellow roses came today. I opened up the card to see what it said... I couldnt believe my eyes When I had read.... Though you belong to another I love you anyway. Yes eighteen yellow roses came today I never doubted your love for a minute I always thought that you would be true But now this box and the flowers in it I guess theres nothin left for me to do..... But ask to meet the boy thats done this thing And find out if hes got plans to buy you a ring Cause eighteen yellow roses will wilt and die one day.... But a fathers love will never fade away... Will never fade away.............. |

| ~ The Mythology of Roses ~ According to Greek mythology, the rose was created by Chloris, The Greek goddess of flowers. One day, in a clearing in the woods, she found the lifeless body of a nymph. She asked the help of Aphrodite, the goddess of love, who gave Beauty. Dionysus, the god of wine added nectar for a sweet scent. The three Graces gave charm, brightness and joy. Zephyr, the West Wind, blew away the clouds, and then Apollo, the Sun god shone and made the flowers bloom. The Rose was crowned Queen of the Flowers. |
