MANCHESTER BOY

David Jones

I’m a Manchester Boy
Me Mum’s pride and joy…
A chip off the old block, me Dad.

I can dance, I can sing…
I can do anything…
There‘s nothing to hard if I try….

And if the going gets rough, I can brave it,
If I set myself straight from the start.
You see..

(chorus)
I’m a Manchester Boy
Me Mum’s pride and joy…
A chip off the old block, me Dad.

Now when I was fourteen
I decided to leave…
Me Dad came to wave me goodbye…
As I got on the train, it started to rain,
And me Dad, well he started to cry…

As the train pulled away from the station
I shouted that I’d be home soon…
You see…
I’m a Manchester Boy
Me Mum’s pride and joy…
A chip off  the old block, me Dad….

Well, I’ve traveled the world
And found me a girl…
And I come home just once in a while.
Relations to meet me…
My friends, they all greet me…
And we laugh and talk about old times.

Nothings changed much around here…
‘Cept me Mum and me Dad’s passed away….

But I’m still that Manchester Boy,
Me Mum’s pride and joy….
A Chip off the old block, Me Dad….

I’m a chip off the old block,
A chip off the old block…
A chip off the old block…
Me Dad.
David Thomas Jones.....
Born in Manchester England on December 30, 1945 to Harry and Doris Jones....and was greated by sisters, Hazel, Beryl and Lynda.
The youngest of four children and the only boy....

Remembered as the "cute" Monkee...but there is more to David than that.   He is a father....a son......a brother.....
an enduring performer, loved by fans both young and old(er).....a trainer and lover of horses....an author.....and a tenacious talent.

This is not a site that will tell you every little thing about David....this is a
"coffee  table book" of sorts.  There are sites out there that go into great depth, I just want to do a simple tribute to a person that I have admired for over 30-some years now.....If you want to learn more about David,  he has written several books...THEY MADE A MONKEE OUT OF ME and his latest, DAYDREAM BELIEVIN' are two .......

I am continually searching for the
Midis to the songs....those I can't find, I hope to create myself (as soon as I figure out the program.....so this might take a while).

We all have a performer  that is more special than others, he is my choice.......I have never had the opportunity to meet him or see him in concert  but I hope to, someday.......I am rounding up pictures (with permission only)...and some lyrics to a few of his songs....The covers from 45's were either scanned from my own collection or ripped off from eBay auction sites....hope I haven't broken any copywrite laws.  I love the covers, they tell a story in themselves.

This is to our everlasting youth.....

Thanks for the Memories,
