| JOHNNY RIVERS was one of the most successful but at the same time, underrated musicians of the 60's.... born John Ramistella in New York City on November 7, 1942 -- He began playing the guitar as a young child and played in local groups throughout his school years. It was Alan Freed the disc jockey who suggested that he change his name to "Rivers".....he played in Nashville and New York and finally settled in Los Angeles and began performing at the famous Whiskey-a-go-go which was also the title of his 1964 debut album Johnny Rivers Live at the Wiskey-a-go-go....I purchased this album when it first came out....have it to this day and still enjoy listening to it. Some of his major hits were: Secret Agent Man.....Baby I Need Your Lovin'...The Tracks of My Tears....He faded from the charts after Summer Rain for the rest of the decade.... |
